COMPETITION
The Miss Tennessee
Valley Preliminary Pageant overview. The Miss Tennessee Valley Preliminary is divided into five phases of competition, including interview, swimsuit, talent, evening
wear, and
onstage question. Each contestant is scored individually from one to ten in
each category with the high and low score disregarded. The contestant
receiving the highest number of points is crowned Miss Tennessee Valley.
Interview
The interview competition is your first opportunity to meet the five
judges who will choose the new Miss Tennessee Valley. The private
interview will last 10 minutes with a straight interview section lasting 9
minutes and 30 seconds followed by a 30 second closing. The attire
for interview should be of business dress (i.e. business dress suit or
pant suit). Judges during private interview can ask you a question on a
span of subjects such as current events, your platform, and your fact
sheet.
Interview is 25% of a contestant's total score.
Swimsuit
The swimsuit competition represents how you maintain good personal
fitness. The judges will be looking for overall proportion of figure,
walk, poise, and grace. Your swimsuit may be one piece or two-piece but
must be one color or one main color with different piping, and must be in
good taste. Shoes may or may not be worn during this competition - the
decision is yours. You will be on stage for a maximum of 20 seconds during
the swimsuit competition.

contestant's total score.
Talent
You will present a talent presentation of
no more than 90 seconds.

accepted in the form of a CD. Cassettes will not be accepted and no on
stage accompaniment will be allowed.
Past talents
have included singing, dancing, playing a musical instrument, reciting a
comedy or dramatic reading, baton, acrobatic movements, etc. Contestants
are responsible for their own music arrangement, etc., for the talent
presentation in the form of a CD. Judges will look for interpretive
ability, technical skill level, stage presence, and the integration of
elements (costume, choreography, music and props) used in the
presentation.
Talent is 35% of a contestant’s total score.
Evening
Wear
The eveningwear is an on-stage statement of the contestant's personality.
During this competition, judges will look for personality, sense of
confidence, stage presence, walk, and posture.
